Is there a scientific term to describe someone who's addicted to running for elected office? Maybe that's being a little hard on Maura Hennigan, but I don't get why she's running for this office after her unsuccessful mayoral bid. I'd expect someone with her political caliber and name recognition to be preparing for another run at mayor rather than settling for this position. If this is part of a larger plan to keep her name in the minds of the public, I have doubts about its effectiveness. Maybe she's hoping to do some networking through the position, but I can't imagine too many political insiders and heavy-hitters being impressed by this move.

More likely she's just tired of running and heavily in debt from the last time and figures this is a nice job to "retire" into. Look at Richie Ianella (former councilor, current probate-court clerk) and Rosaria Salerno (former councilor, current city clerk).
